"Fire (one's) pistol in the air" = Bắn súng chỉ thiên -> Trong một cuộc đấu súng thì nổ súng lên trời để đối thủ không bị thương/trong một cuộc tranh luận hay thảo luận thì tránh những lời chỉ trích, miệt thị cay nghiệt nếu không người khác sẽ bị tổn thương.
