"You can't win them all" hoặc "Win some, lose some" = thắng một ít, thua một ít -> hai cụm từ này đều nghĩa là được cái này mất cái kia.

Ví dụ
Before responding: 'You can't win them all! But I hope in this case that they like the book. But you cannot please (làm hài lòng) everyone. How could you? So many people are coming at it from their own point of view. It's life.'

However, in March 1942, the National Organization for Decent Literature publicly bashed (chỉ trích dữ dội) the Wonder Woman comic books. The reason? Well... she was not "sufficiently dressed". You can't win them all. Who would have thought that bare shoulders and legs would disqualify (loại, truất quyền) Diana's fight for equal rights?

“Tip our hat to Long Island, they beat us tonight and beat us in the series, but I wouldn’t go to battle with anyone other than this dugout. I was proud of the way we conducted ourselves and we were never out of it the whole way. We battled all night and, like I said, you can’t win them all. It stings (cảm thấy đau nhói) a little bit, but like I said, I’m proud to go to battle with these guys.”
