"Hope deferred makes the heart sick" = Sự trông cậy trì hoãn khiến lòng bị đau đớn (theo Kinh Thánh) -> Nếu bạn đợi điều gì đó quá lâu thì bạn sẽ dễ bị tuyệt vọng.

Ví dụ
The Bible says in Proverbs 13:12, from the New Living Translation, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy.” The Message Bible says, “Unrelenting (không nguôi) disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around.”

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick,” says King Solomon. Proverbs (Châm ngôn, tục ngữ) which Solomon wrote, speak to the human condition, and this one is no exception. We’re all familiar with disappointment. You don’t get invited, you don’t get the promotion (sự thăng tiến) or the heartbreak of a break-up is hard to shake.

Debi and I decided to stay here in Medford and try to serve people who needed help. Since then God has been showing us more and more how to set people free. If you come to Set Free Fellowship on any Friday, you will see hundreds of people coming who are either on the streets or the working poor. They don’t have enough resources. They need hope. They need clean clothes, they need food. There’s a Proverb that says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing (niềm khao khát, thèm muốn) fulfilled is like a tree of life.”
