"War to end all wars" nghĩa là gì?

"War to end all wars" = Chiến tranh chấm dứt mọi chiến tranh -> Một cuộc chiến tranh trên phạm vi rộng và có tác động mạnh đối với cả thế giới sẽ chấm dứt mọi mầm mống chiến tranh hoặc thế lực muốn gây chiến tranh trong tương lai (thường là nói về chiến tranh thế giới thứ nhất).

Because the armistice agreement (hiệp ước đình chiến) ended the fighting, Nov. 11, 1918 was widely regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars,” as WWI was often referred. In November 1919, Wilson issued a proclamation (tuyên bố) commemorating (kỷ niệm) Nov. 11 as Armistice Day (kỷ niệm ngày đình chiến kết thúc Đệ Nhất Thế Chiến).
The First World War was to be “the war to end all wars,” but it wasn’t. Eight decades after the war, James Pitcairn had some perspective (góc nhìn, quan điểm). At age 102 he had come to the conclusion that war is not the way to settle disputes (bàn cãi, tranh luận). In one of his last interviews he said, “Eventually war has got to be stopped. They’ve got to be stopped.”
