"Back and fill" nghĩa là gì?

"Back and fill" nghĩa là di chuyển các cánh buồm của tàu theo kiểu xen kẽ để phù hợp với gió trong một kênh hẹp; thay đổi hướng liên tục; lưỡng lự, do dự.

Past couple of years, Berkshire as a stock has backed and filled, tracking a trading range between $190 and $220 a share. You could’ve fallen asleep as a shareholder.
Five years ago, Alibaba traded at $120 and has backed and filled between $200 and $130 past couple of years. Maybe it carries an “inscrutable” (khó hiểu) stigma, but it gets my money.
Yes, the gold price may yet decline (giảm) for awhile, even down to 1250, as it "backs and fills"- preparatory (mở đầu) to a highly probable resumption of the uptrend. Or the decline might be quite shallow. There's just no way to know for sure. As with so much else in life, it's a lot about probabilities.
