Tập đoàn Union Development của Trung Quốc đã được Hun Sen cho sở hữu một vùng đất rộng 110,000 Arch ven Vịnh Thái Lan, gần kề Phú Quốc, Dara Sakor. Tập đoàn này đã xây dựng sân bay có đường băng 10,500 feet (3200 m) và căn cứ hải quân có cầu tàu cho tàu 10,000 tons cập bến.

When completed next year on a remote stretch of shoreline, Dara Sakor International Airport will boast the longest runway in Cambodia, complete with the kind of tight turning bay favored by fighter jet pilots. Nearby, workers are clearing trees from a national park (công viên quốc gia) to make way for a port (cảng nước sâu) deep enough to host naval ships (tàu hải quân).

The politically connected Chinese company building the airstrip and port says the facilities are for civilian use. But the scale of the land deal at Dara Sakor — which secures 20 percent of Cambodia’s coastline for 99 years — has raised eyebrows (làm nhướng lông mày), especially since the portion of the project built so far is already moldering in malarial (bệnh sốt rét) jungle.
