"Do a takeoff on" nghĩa là gì?

"Do a takeoff on (someone or something)" = Nhái lại, bắt chước lại ai/cái gì một cách hài hước hoặc châm biếm.
Ví dụ
“I was raised in the ’40s and early ’50s going to movies with my grandmother. It was a given when we got the show I would want to do a takeoff on Double Indemnity, or The Postman Always Rings Twice.”
Yeah. We always talked about a musical episode. My pitch was always that we would do a takeoff on THE PRODUCERS, and Penguin and Nygma would put on a Broadway show in Gotham City, but that was [for] Season 6.
Somewhat recently, then, there was the famous incident (đoạn, tình tiết) of a pirate broadcaster (một buổi phát thanh không được phép chính thức) breaking into the Channel 11 and WGN airwaves, with a guy in a Max Headroom mask. I proposed that we do a takeoff on that: that I was a former disgruntled (bực tức, bất bình) employee (ahem) who breaks into the airwaves every week and shows a movie.
