"Give (one) an even break" = Cho ai nghỉ ngơi như nhau -> Cho ai cơ hội cũng như sự đối xử công bằng.

Ví dụ
"Just give us a shot, just give us an even break. Don't stack the deck against us." Biden visited Scranton on Monday to help raise funds for Mr.

Nishimura’s force was much smaller than the American fleet it would be facing, but Admiral Oldendorf was not about to show any leniency (tính nhân hậu). “If my opponent (đối thủ) is foolish enough to come at me with an inferior (yếu thế) force,” he later said, “I’m certainly not going to give him an even break.”

It was believed the depleted (suy yếu) Australian side might even the scales through their experience in day-night cricket, and India didn't want to give them an even break. You would think India would have similar reservations when touring Australia in 2020, but if they play a day-night Test at home, they might be somewhat obliged to do so in Australia too. Unless of course they don't enjoy the experience against Bangladesh, and make that the basis of disagreement.
