"Take off guard" nghĩa là gì?

"Take/catch (one) off (one's) guard" = Bị chộp thình lình lúc không đề phòng; lợi dụng, tấn công ai khi họ không cảnh giác.

Ví dụ
The emotions seem to take him off guard and he laughs at his own reaction, adding, “I’m hard on the outside, but soft in the middle. My girls will tell you that, my grandkids.”

‘‘It doesn’t surprise me that there are similarities between our cultures and our practices and I’m really grateful to have been here to see that,’’ she says, blinking (chớp mắt) away tears. ‘‘But it did take me off guard a little bit.’’
