"Turn your back on" nghĩa là gì?

"Turn (someone's) back on (someone/something)" = quay lưng với ai/cái gì -> cụm từ này nghĩa là từ chối giúp đỡ hoặc trợ giúp những người đang cần; làm ngơ, không để ý đến hoặc loại trừ ai/cái gì; từ bỏ, bỏ rơi ai/cái gì.
Ví dụ
If you encounter (bắt gặp) a mountain lion, do not run away! Make yourself look as big as possible, yell, and slowly back away from the encounter. Do not turn your back on the lion. Bear spray may be a good safety item to carry with you as well.
They watch videos on YouTube, and therefore we do too. You have to, because you turn your back on YouTube for a second and one minute it’s ballet the next minute it’s an AI-generated cartoon where Peppa is fighting a luminous orange dinosaur with a dentists’ drill.
It's impossible to turn your back on small children for a second, let alone leaving them to fend for themselves for a full thirty minutes so you can get a workout in. Childcare is expensive and sometimes hard to find, so it makes a lot more sense to let go of exercising until the kids are older.
