"Come up with the rations" nghĩa là gì?

"Come up (be given) with the rations (khẩu phần)" = Từ lóng (quân đội) nghĩa là được trao tặng giải thưởng (huân chương) một cách tự động, không xứng đáng và không công bằng, không có công lao nhưng mà vẫn được trao tặng.

Ví dụ
Of all the women agents who risked their lives in Nazi-occupied Europe in the second world war, Polish-born Krystyna must surely rate as one of the bravest of the brave. As they used to say in army vernacular (biệt ngữ quân đội), the George Medal (which was about as close to a VC as a foreign national could get), the OBE and the Croix de Guerre did not exactly ‘come up with the rations’.

It is not really about the men. There is no reason to think that men’s cricket is ‘better’ than women’s sport. Men are bigger, heavier and faster than women. But it is not as though men do anything special in their life to become physically stronger than women. The average male couch potato is bigger, heavier and probably stronger than the average female couch potato. Given how society is organised, bigger, more powerful, bodies simply come up with the rations for men, don’t they?
