"Elevator doesn't go to the top floor" nghĩa là gì?

"Elevator doesn't go to the top floor" = Thang máy không lên tới sân thượng -> Chỉ người có đầu óc bình thường, không thông minh.

Ví dụ
Branco did a nice job painting her portrait (vẽ chân dung). Looks just like her. She said during an interview that she did not know how all her freebees were going to be paid for. She said THEY would work it out. She is dumber than a box of rocks and her elevator doesn’t go to the top floor. What is this country coming to if someone like her, and bernie, can infiltrate (xâm nhập) congress.

These practices are reflected not only in popular books and videos such as the Darwin Awards, People-of-Wal-Mart websites, and Reddit lists of ways to insult (sỉ nhục) the stupid, but in popular speech: “not the sharpest knife in the drawer … elevator doesn’t go to the top floor … dumb as a sack of hammers.” Even as I write these words, I lament (than vãn) at how easily a list of these slogans comes to my mind. I have used all too many of them, aimed at too many people, far too casually.
