"Go beet red" = Thành màu đỏ củ cải đường -> (sự đỏ mặt) do ngại ngùng hoặc xấu hổ.

Ví dụ
“His face would go beet red and, when he laughed, it was just a belly laugh,” Crystal said. “He loved joking around. Anything to make someone happy, he’d do it. He could brighten up a whole room. He was always there for his family and friends.”

One of the most embarrassing things that can happen to a person is probably walking into a glass door or a glass barrier (rào cản), especially when many people are around to witness (làm chứng) it. You either hold your head up high and walk away as if nothing happened, or go beet red from the humiliation (sự lăng mạ, sỉ nhục) as you rub your head from the startling bang that you never saw coming.

“I used to get so, so mad. I hated the duality (tính hai mặt, đối ngẫu) of my experience in the sport; I want strong, muscular (cơ bắp) arms, I love the veins (gân) in my hands; to me, all these things represent my hard work, and I think it’s beautiful. But at the same time, I used to go beet red and hide myself when others would point it out on me. It took me the longest time to realize that I wasn’t self conscious over my arms or legs or hands. I was too aware that people saw me as something different, and some people are painfully uncomfortable with difference.”
