"Stare in the face" nghĩa là gì?

"Stare (someone or something) in the face" = Nhìn thẳng/trực tiếp vào mặt ai mà không chớp mắt; đương đầu hoặc đối mặt với một vấn đề một cách trực tiếp.

Ví dụ
As the Proteas stare a massive defeat in the face, their coach takes responsibility and says his skipper isn’t retiring anytime soon.

If they lived amongst constituents, experienced more or less the same services day in day out, had the poor state of infrastructure (cơ sở hạ tầng) stare them in the face every day, would they require to be roused (khích động) into action by protests?

But any time I wear a smartwatch, I feel completely trapped. It's easy enough for me to just ignore my phone when it buzzes in my pocket and check back later, but when the notification is staring me in the face from right on my wrist (cổ tay), it's harder to ignore. It's right there. And on especially busy days where I'm constantly getting notifications from emails, texts, social media, and so on (usually during trade shows like CES), I catch myself staring at my wrist more than I ever stare at my phone.
