"Bend the truth" nghĩa là gì?

"Bend the truth" = bẻ cong sự thật -> cụm từ này nghĩa là thay đổi, bỏ qua hoặc điều chỉnh một số yếu tố của câu chuyện để phù hợp với nhu cầu, ý định hoặc mong muốn của bản thân; nói sai sự thật.

Ví dụ
She is either painfully misinformed or is demonstrating a willingness to bend the truth in support of her ongoing crusade (cuộc vận động, chiến dịch) against California’s health initiatives and the students who most need our support.

But if you bend the truth judiciously (sáng suốt, thận trọng) and on a small scale, you’ll be able to pull off deceptions ranging from good (a surprise party!) to harmless (getting out of plans). As a side effect, you might even get better at catching a liar in their tracks.

Journalists and PR professionals have always been entwined in an uneasy dependency. They need one another to thrive. They get along socially, sharing the same love of language, art and gossip. And their relationship is usually tainted by mutual contempt. (Journalists think PR folks bend the truth for money; PR people think journos bend the truth in the interests of a good story.)
