"Lay off the bottle" nghĩa là gì?

"Lay off the bottle" = đặt chai (rượu) xuống -> nghĩa là dừng uống rượu, tạm thời hoặc dừng hẳn, nhất là sau khoảng thời gian 'rượu chè bê tha' (triền miên, lâu).
Ví dụ:
Whilst it's always nice to see Flair still doings things for WWE, perhaps (có lẽ) he needs to lay off the bottle just a tad before he picks up a microphone!
While he barely got through school, he did well enough on standardized (tiêu chuẩn hóa) tests to get into Florida State University in 1958. He flunked out (bị đuổi học) when he couldn’t lay off the bottle.
Obviously, there are plenty of great, valid reasons to lay off the bottle, especially if you think you may have an alcohol addiction
But hopefully, seeing these crazy physical transformations will inspire (truyền cảm hứng) a few people looking to quit drinking to finally try it.
