"Put (someone) in the dock" = Buộc ai phải ngồi ghế dành cho bị cáo (ở tòa án) = Cáo buộc/tố cáo ai đã gây ra tội.

Ví dụ
An innocent man arrested and jailed in error did not have tattoos like the suspect but police convinced prosecutors (người khởi tố tại tòa án, bên nguyên) to put him in the dock anyway.

“She returned to the scene having tied her hair up and taken her earrings out. “She is petrified of the outcome. It caused her anxiety to put her in the dock.” The court heard that Hussain is earning £40 a week on Universal Credit and is applying for PIP.

There was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose reluctant (miễn cưỡng) conversion to the impeachment cause put Trump in the dock in December. There was Chief Justice John Roberts, whose stated reverence (tôn trọng) for institutions and the rule of law raised hope that he might conduct the Senate trial with a firmer hand than what he has thus far shown. There was the Senate Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer, whose demand for additional witnesses and documents sparked a fleeting hope of persuading four moderate Republicans to join in seeking more evidence of Trump’s misdeeds (hành động xấu).
