"Put the tin lid on" = Đậy nắp thiếc lên -> Chấm dứt/giải quyết chuyện rắc rối hoặc tình huống tồi tệ theo cách tiêu cực nên kéo thêm sự khó khăn (đổ thêm dầu vào lửa).
