"Absolve(d) from guilt" = xóa tội -> vô tội, xóa tan nghi ngờ, được ân xá.

Ví dụ
From the words of Christ (Chúa), therefore, we are not at liberty to infer (tự do suy luận), that Simon had been a debtor (con nợ) to a small amount, or that he was absolved from guilt.

The link between Iran and the Contras gave the scandal (bê bối) its name and also its focus. The narrower (thu hẹp) the focus, the easier it was to claim that the president was not a party to the crime and could therefore be absolved from guilt.
