It's the weekend and I can't get ahold of my doctor? Call the emergency room first and inform them you are displaying COVID-19 symptoms.

Last Saturday 91-year-old John Derrick, Sr. was admitted to the ER at Health First’s Viera Hospital related to his chronic pneumonia (viêm phổi kinh niên). He was due to be discharged three days later, but for over a week now he’s been unable to return to his assisted living facility. The hold up: he couldn’t secure a negative COVID-19 test result. “Trying to get ahold of anyone is just like a black hole,” his 61-year-old son, John Derrick, Jr. told FLORIDA TODAY over the weekend.

“He kind of introduced me to them, and we started going metal-detecting together occasionally,” he said. “Then we decided we’d start a Facebook page and post our finds there.” Then, one year ago, the group was out at the Garfield County Fairgrounds when a golden, Texas Tech, Aggie class ring was discovered. The group decided to track down the owner and return it. “It took us about a month and a half to get ahold of the guy,” he said. “But we got ahold of him and returned it.”
