Thinking that he had snagged the job, the lieutenant (trung úy) made the call, only to find a displeased Admiral Rickover staring angrily at him. “You coward (tên hèn nhát),” Rickover grumbled. “If you’re that much of a pushover, you will never have a place in this office, now get out of my sight!”

She also told the touching story of how her grandmother had packed an initialed washcloth in the suitcase she carried for her trip to Switzerland. She still has that washcloth today, the one material item that remains with her, along with her memories, from her childhood in Europe. “I don’t let it get out of my sight,” she said.

Coupled with an impassioned lecture, Forchione sentenced the defendant (bị cáo) to 17 years in prison and told him he won’t be traumatizing (gây chấn thương) anybody else on Christmas anytime soon. “You may want to act like the Grinch who stole Christmas but you’re not going back to Whoville,” he chided. Womack appeared to smirk (cười tự mãn, cười điệu) before exiting the courtroom (phòng xử án). Visibly irate, Forchione raised his voice, ordering a Stark County Sheriff’s deputy (đại diện quận trưởng cảnh sát) to “get him out of my sight.”
