'Make allowance(s) for someone or something' = chuẩn bị đầy đủ, xem xét, tính đến cái gì khi đưa ra quyết định; chiếu cố, tha thứ hay chấp nhận ai trong một số trường hợp đặc biệt.

Ví dụ
Kipling's lead notes, "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too......You'll be a man my son."

One thing about the Covid-19 pandemic (dịch bệnh) is that it is forcing companies to rethink the virtue and necessity of allowing people to work from home. Even bosses who are control freaks (người thích kiểm soát) have to make allowance for such work flexibility in times of crisis.

In view of the large current-account deficits (thâm hụt) that will inevitably accumulate, CBCS sees no other option than to make allowance for the countries to deviate from (lệch khỏi) the financial standards laid down in the Kingdom Law on Financial Supervision of Curaçao and St. Maarten.
