"At Her Majesty's pleasure" nghĩa là gì?

"At Her/His Majesty's pleasure" nghĩa là bị bắt giam vào một nhà tù ở Anh quốc. Thuật ngữ này xuất phát từ việc ở nước Anh trước đây, bắt giam ai là phụ thuộc vào quyết định của người đứng đầu vương quốc.
Ví dụ
The distinctive (khác biệt) Kieran Harte spent his 35th birthday at Her Majesty's pleasure after admitting a string of offences (một loạt tội danh) earlier this month.
After being convicted of murder (kết án giết người) last month, he was sentenced to the youth equivalent of life - detained (giam giữ) at Her Majesty's Pleasure for a minimum of 11 years.
The judge then passed sentence (tuyên án) for what he described as this ‘act of unparalleled evil and barbarity (xấu xa và vô nhân đạo)’, ordering Thompson and Venables to be detained ‘during Her Majesty’s pleasure’.
Blasphemy would no longer be regarded as an offence (hành vi phạm tội) but an entire suite of other philosophical (triết học) positions on religion – if pungently expressed (bày tỏ hăng hái)– could have the miscreant (không tín ngưỡng) doing penance (sám hối) at Her Majesty’s pleasure.
