"Dig oneself into a hole" = tự đào hố chôn mình -> nghĩa là tự đưa bản thân vào tình huống khó khăn hoặc vị trí không thuận lợi.

Ví dụ
When I don’t have an event that truly speaks to me, I find myself enjoying the freedom of just riding around without purpose for a few weeks. With no pressure and no expectations (dự kiến) it feels like a luxury, a guilty pleasure. I do whatever I want, whenever I want. I ride long and don’t recover (phục hồi) well, and then ride again when I am too tired and I dig myself into a hole.

I really like that style of comedy (hài kịch). I like to dig myself into a hole in front of the audience, then watch them as they watch me try to climb out of it. I like creating difficulty in my stand-up, and if the audience is going to laugh at something that they were against at first, then I'll feel better for doing that instead of just giving them something they obviously would have laughed at.

"Naturally I'm a pretty aggressive cricketer, so for me it was about playing that way and having that intent all the time. "And when I dig myself into a hole like I did last game, it's about getting out of that smartly.
