"Dig oneself into a hole" = tự đào hố chôn mình -> nghĩa là tự đưa bản thân vào tình huống khó khăn hoặc vị trí không thuận lợi.

When I don’t have an event that truly speaks to me, I find myself enjoying the freedom of just riding around without purpose for a few weeks.
