"Go down on (one's) knees" nghĩa là quỳ xuống.

Ví dụ
Take a knee is a protest against the unfair treatment of Black Americans - but has now become a globalised symbol of fighting racism. It initially gained worldwide attention in American football, as some players would go down on one knee during the national anthem (quốc ca) at the beginning of the game.

“This is a Black man going down to his knees and putting his arms and his instrument behind his back, saying, ‘Take me, arrest me.’ And in a way, as I was doing it, it felt like surrender (đầu hàng),” he says. “We surrender to the hope that everyone will come together on this issue and try to fix it and try to make things better. We kneel because we have tried so hard that it's hard to stand.”

Nazi Germany (Đức Quốc xã) never was able to position itself for an invasion of Britain (which itself speaks well of the British). So Hitler resorted to nightly bombing raids (đột kích) he thought would bring Great Britain to its knees (as did U.S. Ambassador Joseph P. Kennedy). But months later, the British survived the Blitz and the Nazis had to concede that Great Britain was not going to go down on its knees (much less surrender to a monster like Hitler).
