"Mark (something) with a white stone" = đánh dấu bằng đá trắng -> nghĩa là nói đến điều khiến bạn thích thú/thuận lợi, may mắn (cách dùng lỗi thời).

Ví dụ
An object that is white absorbs (hấp thụ) all the rays of light. The diamond, the stone of stones, is white when purest, and it is a flashing light. Light itself, at its utmost intensity, is white. The white stone was of old a mark of good fortune.

I mark the circumstance with a white stone (in the absence of chalk—for I never saw a white stone that a body could mark anything with, though out of respect for the ancients I have tried it often enough); for up to that day and date it was the first strictly commercial transaction (giao dịch thương mại) I had ever entered into, and come out winner.

The general (for so we shall call him) who was a gentleman of quality of Valencia, gave Don Quixote Ms hand, and embraced him, saying: "This day, will I mark with a white stone, as one of the happiest I shall ever enjoy, on account of seeing the renowned signor (quý ngài lừng danh) Don Quixote de la Mancha, in whom the whole worth of knight-errantry is cyphered and concentred."
