"Take a knee" nghĩa là quỳ một gối. Trong bóng đá Mỹ hay bóng bầu dục, "take a knee" là hành động quỳ một gối và một tay giữ bóng chặt xuống đất khi làm một cú touchback ở cuối vùng cấm địa (end-zone). Bên cạnh đó, với phong trào "Black Live Matter" lan rộng mạnh mẽ, "take a knee" mang trong mình biểu tượng chống phân biệt chủng tộc.

Ví dụ
Instead of catching it and taking a knee, returner DeAndre Carter made a signal with his hands, caught the ball, then tossed the ball on the ground over to the referee (trọng tài).

During the off-season, the league moved the touchback line from the 20-yard line up to the 25, thinking more teams would take advantage of the ability to get the ball closer to the end zone by taking a knee.

Before the start of each match in the Schroders Battle of Brits this week at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, England, all competitors are taking a knee in solidarity (đoàn kết) for the Black Lives Matter movement.

However, alongside the Black Power raised clenched fist (nắm chặt tay), taking a knee has become synonymous with anti-racism, and began in 2016 when the American athlete Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the US national anthem to protest police brutality (tàn bạo) and racism.
