"To barely make it on time" -> nghĩa là hiếm khi đúng giờ (hạn chót, cuộc hẹn, lớp học...) nhưng cuối cùng cũng xoay xở đúng hạn.

Ví dụ
It’s Saturday night and I have a date — a second date, in fact, with a handsome 42-year-old who’s taking me to see They Might Be Giants at First Avenue. I glance at my watch — show time is 8 p.m. and it’s already quarter to six. If I leave right now, I will just barely make it on time.

Oh my gosh, what are you talking about? We always barely make it on time! Really…the most recent film that was dangerous was Boy and the Beast. There was so much stuffed in as a story but we didn't have time, and it was crazy. We tried to learn from that experience and for Mirai we gave ourselves more time, and it was shorter, so we thought it would be easy, but…it was also barely made in time. We always barely make it. No matter what the circumstance, it's always tight… “(laugh)” Or rather, “(sob)”

Let’s take the example of being late to class. If you lock your bike you are going to be 10 entire seconds late to your microeconomics (kinh tế học vi mô) class and probably get reamed by your professor for being late. So, you decide to throw your bike into a bush and just sprint down the hallways of DeBart to just barely make it on time. Unfortunately, when you walk out of class, your bike is now the latest decoration on a tree. It may seem like the end of the world, but there is one positive takeaway: At least you still have your bike. In the real world, it would go more like this.
