"Honours of war"= danh dự của cuộc chiến -> nghĩa là những điều kiện chiếu cố cho phép làm theo quân lễ đối với một đạo quân đầu hàng (được giữ vũ khí, cầm cờ đi ra...)

Ví dụ
Commander Muller is known as ‘the last gentleman of war’. An Admiralty (office of admiralty and marine affairs) had even acknowledged the achievements of the German warship and telegraphed (điện báo) to his superiors that the “captain, officers and crew of Emden appear to be entitled (cho quyền làm) to all honours of war…” in an attempt to appreciate their work.

The document declares British troops (lính) are to “march out of their camp with the Honours of War,” with “arms to be piled (dựng súng chụm vào nhau) by word of Command from their own Officers,” and artillery left behind as well.

After two months the garrison (đơn vị đồn trú) had capitulated (đầu hàng) and marched out (rời đi) with the honours of war. Later in the year the city was returned along with France's conquests in the Austrian Netherlands according to the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle.
