"In for a penny, in for a pound" nghĩa là việc đã làm thì phải làm đến nơi đến chốn, không làm nửa vời. Cụm từ xuất hiện từ thế kỷ 17, ban đầu có nghĩa là nếu một người nợ một xu (penny) thì cũng có thể nợ một bảng Anh (pound).
