"Don't know one from a bar of soap" = không phân biệt được ai với một cục xà phòng -> nghĩa là hoàn toàn không biết một chút gì về ai, chưa từng gặp mặt người đó bao giờ.
Ví dụ
I don't know him from a bar of soap, but don't think we'd get on … must be no place in government for the views he's expressed (bày tỏ).
I don't know him from a bar of soap but from what I have seen he is one of those blokes (gã) who commands respect because he has earned it. If it is true that is great for the club and I think it is going to be good for the playing squad.
