“Ghost in the machine” nghĩa là gì?

“Ghost in the machine” = con ma trong máy -> nghĩa là trí tuệ nhân tạo do máy tính tạo ra hoặc nói về ý thức và tư tưởng, tâm trí tách rời cơ thể của con người, Cụm từ này được đặt ra bởi nhà triết học người Anh Gilbert Ryle trong cuốn “The Concept of Mind” (1949) về quan điểm mà ông cho là hoàn toàn sai lầm.

Most scientists today would predict that in our future the dazzling searchlight (đèn pha rọi sáng chói) of science will burn off the last fading vapours (vật hư ảo) of what the philosopher (nhà triết học) Gilbert Ryle termed 'the ghost in the machine', leaving souls as relics (di vật) of history and wrapping minds firmly inside the nets of causality (quan hệ nhân quả).
In considering the old “ghost in the machine” idea, we confronted the enigma (bí ẩn) of what happens to mind, at least conscious mind, when we sleep or are anesthetized (gây mê) or experience certain kinds of head trauma (chấn thương) that produce coma (hôn mê). In those circumstances, conscious mind is clearly gone, though the potential to reactivate it may still be there.
I am aware that I have occasionally invoked (gọi hồn) Gilbert Ryle's ghost in the machine without devoting much effort to making my philosophical intentions (ý đồ triết học) clear. Ryle was concerned, in The Concept of Mind, not with the role of gernes in development, or even, really, with the nature-nurture (nuôi dưỡng bản chất) problem, but with the mind-matter (tinh thần-vật chất) dichotomy (lưỡng phân) and the difficulties he felt it posed for an adequate treatment of behavior and experience.
