"Hard cases make bad laws" = vụ (kiện) khó tạo ra luật tồi -> nghĩa là luật dựa trên những tình huống/trường hợp đặc biệt thì khó áp dụng trong cuộc sống.

Ví dụ
As the old legal maxim goes, “hard cases make bad laws.” We can say the same when it comes to personal experiences: lived experiences make bad policy (chính sách).

They say "hard cases make bad laws" and this is one of those cases. My natural inclination is to side with the Davids (the mural artists), not the Goliath (Mercedes), but if Mercedes is found to be infringing (vi phạm), that sets a precedent that can be wielded against everyone, not just giant corporations (who will always be able to afford lawyers to argue their case).

It is often said that "hard cases make bad laws." While a total handgun ban (lệnh cấm) makes sense on a superficial level, many lawful gun owners are appropriately skeptical that such a ban would be anything more than symbolic (tượng trưng).
