A 24-year-old man tried to hide cocaine under his scrotum (bìu) when he was stopped by police Wednesday afternoon.

Police were driving in the 2200 block of 15th Avenue East in Bradenton at 3:11 p.m. when an officer recognized Edrick McCary, who he believed had an active warrant out for his arrest.

When officers got out of the vehicle, McCary became nervous and "began to pat down and reach into his front and right pockets," police said. He tried to run into a residence but the door was locked, and officers told him to calm down and keep his hands visible. Officers also said they could smell marijuana.
