"Leave somebody at the altar" có altar là đền thờ thánh trong thánh đường, nơi mà cha đứng dưới đó để làm lễ cho cô dâu và chú rể trong đám cưới -> cụm từ này nghĩa là hủy hôn ngay trước đám cưới.
