"In/further (one's) (own) interest" nghĩa là đạt được, củng cố lợi ích cho bản thân, làm việc gì có lợi cho mình.

Ví dụ
“I have no sympathy (đồng cảm) if they are given a fine. Rules are rules and they are there for a reason. It’s in their own interests as well as the public’s. The council (hội đồng) is working with businesses to make sure they abide (tuân thủ) by the rules and stay open."

As an avid (nhiệt thành) supporter of this president, I encourage him to use as much of my money as possible to further his own interests. Because, as the Justice Department’s (Bộ Tư pháp) intervention in Carroll’s defamation (phỉ báng) lawsuit shows us, conclusively, America and Donald Trump are now one and the same.

To some friends, Kissinger deflected blame (đổ hết tội lỗi) for the wiretaps (nghe lén) by pinning the excesses on Haig. Much of what was "requested" in Kissinger's name, he insisted, was done on Haig's own initiative (ý định). There is some truth to the charge; Haig used the program to further his own interests and spy on his rivals. But it is also true that Kissinger decided that it was in his own interest-and served to enhance his credibility (uy tín) with Haldeman and Nixon and Hoover-to let Haig do so.
