A team of paleontologists (nhà cổ sinh vật học) has discovered (phát hiện, khám phá) what they believe is the world's oldest animal sperm (tinh trùng động vật), frozen inside a tiny crustacean (loài giáp xác) in a blob (giọt nước, viên tròn) of tree resin in Myanmar 100 million years ago. 

The oldest known examples of fossilised animal sperm were previously a mere 17 million years old.

The sperm were found inside an ostracod, a kind of crustacean that has existed for 500 million years and can be found in many oceans today.

They were found in the body of a female specimen, indicating that she must have been fertilised (đưa phấn hoa hoặc tinh trùng vào (cây, trứng hoặc con vật cái) để nó phát triển hạt thành con; thụ tinh; thụ phấn) shortly before being trapped in the tree resin.
