but that limited amount of spring tension is insufficient to detonate a primer, PLUS there is a positive firing-pin/striker safety plunger in the way.
The body lay with feet to the door. At the head lay a double-barreled shot gun at full cock and loaded. A bullet had entered below the right shoulder traveling out near the left nipple.
Minimal cylinder play exists when the revolver is at full cock, indicating a nicely machined cylinder stop and well-tuned action. The cylinder gap between the rear of the barrel and the face of the cylinder is nice and tight, too.
