"Best of a bad bunch" nghĩa là gì?

"Best of a bad bunch" -> nghĩa là người hoặc vật tốt/nổi trội hơn trong nhóm, mặc dù tất cả đều không tốt lắm; méo mó có hơn không.

Ví dụ
A busy summer but, in hindsight, a pretty miserable (khốn khổ) one. None of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger or Morgan Schneiderin can be considered good signings. Anthony Martial for £36m is probably the best of a bad bunch. But the window will always be remembered for ‘faxgate’ and David de Gea’s failed move to Real Madrid.

“He was a strange man. If it had been a modern relationship, my parents would have had a fling (ăn chơi) for about a month and realised they had nothing in common and gone their own separate ways. But they met in wartime (thời chiến), when couples got together quite quickly because they didn't know what was going to happen the next month, the next year. “My mother once said, very disparagingly, ‘Oh I wasn't that keen on him but he was the best of a bad bunch'. It was doomed to failure from the start.”

Investors do not see the need for change when they are making money, even when their portfolio (giấy tờ) is underperforming relative to the market. At the same time, that underperformance is not always apparent to the end investor because many asset managers only compare their performance to that of their peer group. What looks like a strong manager is too often just the best of a bad bunch.

Quavers crisps, meanwhile, were described as "the best of a bad bunch" as its multipacks' outer bags are recyclable at supermarket collections, although individual (cá nhân) bags of the crisps are not.
