“With bad grace” có grace là thái độ -> nghĩa là cư xử không lịch thiệp, trơ tráo và thù địch.

It recalls the time that Gerry Adams lost his West Belfast seat to Joe Hendron. They reacted with bad grace to that defeat, and need to beware not to repeat the same mistake. Humility will be needed, and a willingness to accept responsibility, neither of which comes naturally to republicans.

The Bench Book advises that transgender defendants (những bị cáo chuyển giới) should be addressed by the pronouns of their choice and that ‘self-definition is the most important criteria’ (sic). At least one victim of violence by a transgender woman has been reprimanded in court for using male pronouns while describing the attack. Finding the defendant guilty, the judge refused the victim compensation, saying that when asked to refer to the defendant as ‘she’, the victim had done so with ‘bad grace’ or continued to use ‘he’.

The lobby journalists Gabriel Pogrund and Patrick Maguire, who are responsible for another book, which is just out – Left Out: The Inside Story of Labour under Corbyn – seem to agree with me that Corbyn is not anti-Semitic, and is genuinely hurt and perplexed (bối rối, phức tạp) that anyone should think he is. But they show how some of those round him saw the need to engage with the issue. And they chart relentlessly his persistent and incomprehensible failure to do so, seeming to give ground inch by inch, reluctantly and with bad grace.
