"Blot your copy book" nghĩa là gì?

“Blot (one's) copy book” = vấy bẩn quyển sách -> nghĩa là bôi nhọ danh tiếng (của ai).

Ví dụ
It is the first time the 26-year-old has been red-carded (thẻ đỏ) in his career. Not a good time to blot one's copy-book but Stander can consider himself unfortunate.

Andy Murray has never won the French Open, but in the era of Rafael Nadal that is far from a blot on his copybook. He was a finalist in 2016 before losing out to Novak Djokovic, and he reached the semi-finals in his last outing there in 2017 before falling to Stan Wawrinka.

If corflutes are used to advertise this glorious (vinh quang) festival of the car, the ACC should understand that they are recyclable only in Victoria, so that’s another environmentally hostile blot on their copy book. As if this wasn’t enough, we’re in Covid, albeit thankfully under control in SA for the moment, but we should all be minimising unnecessary trips as much as we can.
