“Once over lightly” nghĩa là gì?

“Once over lightly” = một lần khinh suất -> nghĩa là rất nhanh chóng/vội vàng, qua loa và cẩu thả. Thường dùng như một tính từ đứng trước danh từ.

Ví dụ
“ACT is concerned that the Prime Minister, who yesterday voiced confidence in the PHARMAC model, will attempt to run a once-over-lightly review by officials that won’t get to the heart of the issues.

This kind of “once-over lightly” approach to the complex requirements of a police investigation is a worry to Glynn Rigby. “Some of the statements are weak…it’s been a very cursory (nhanh, lướt qua) interview with neighbours and potential witnesses. And perhaps they haven’t grasped some of the broader issues that they should be addressing from a more investigative point of view.”

Made as part of the Australiana collaboration between Screen Australia and Vice, Burlesque Boys encapsulates (tóm lược) both the strengths and weaknesses of the series. The filmmaking isn’t especially polished and – at just 30 minutes – there’s the feeling of everything getting the once-over-lightly. But this is also a genuine peek into a corner of Australia most of us have no access to: behind the scenes with a group of male strippers. The faint flavour of This Is Spinal Tap adds to the fun. MH
