"Stand stock-still" nghĩa là gì?

"Stand/stay stock-still" có stay là ngừng lại, stock-still là bất động -> cụm từ này nghĩa là không di chuyển.

Ví dụ 

A big part of a harbour seal’s menu is benthic fish (cá sống dưới đáy biển) – those that live on the sea floor and can stay stock-still. 

Right after the accident happened, Gary wanted to sit up and get home. Andy demanded he stay stock still until help arrived, and probably saved Gary’s life.

All the while, their hive-mates (các tổ ong) attack continuously, trapping the beetles (con bọ) in their own defensive posture (tư thế phòng thủ). They can’t expose (lộ ra) themselves or they’d get torn apart (bị xé nát). Instead, they are forced to stay stock still, while the bees mummify (ướp xác) them in their own armoured shell (vỏ bọc thép).
