The US supreme court (tòa án tối cao) has unanimously (nhất trí) rejected (bác bỏ) a baseless lawsuit (vụ kiên vô căn cứ) filed by Texas seeking to overturn (đảo ngược) the presidential election result (kết quả bầu cử tổn thống), dealing the biggest blow (giáng đòn mạnh nhất) yet (cho tới nay) to Donald Trump’s assault on democracy (cuộc tấn công vào nền dân chủ).

In a brief, one page order, all nine justices on America’s highest court dismissed (bỏ không xét, bác) the longshot (ít có khả năng thành công) effort (nỗ lực) to throw out (phủ nhận, bác) the vote counts in four states that the president lost: Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The decision hammers another nail in the coffin (đóng đinh vào cỗ quan tài) of Trump’s increasingly desperate effort (nỗ lực ngày càng tuyệt vọng) to subvert (lật đổ, phá hoại) the will of the people (ý nguyện của người dân) and deny Joe Biden the presidency.

The suit filed by Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, sought to invalidate (vô hiệu hóa) the results in four swing states (bang dao động), asking the court to extend the deadline for election certification so alleged voting irregularities could be investigated.
