"No great shakes" -> nghĩa là không tốt lắm, tầm thường, không hữu dụng lắm.

Of course it’s also worth noting that for all their pretty passing patterns, insistence (mong muốn) on playing out from the back and other aesthetically (có thẩm mỹ) pleasing fancy-dannery, Brighton are no great shakes in front of goal, whether it’s trying to keep the ball out of their own or propelling it into that of the opposition.

Celtic were no great shakes – the seven goals they have scored in six home matches this year is a number they would once have looked to accumulate (tích lũy) in this 90 minutes alone – but like all the Dons’ previous five opponents they could be fairly comfortable that one strike of their own would suffice (đáp ứng).

The New York Evening Express was no great shakes as a newspaper. But in 1886, when The New York Times ran the obituary (cáo phó) of one of the Express’ former owners, Erastus Brooks, it had to give credit where it was due. “Its make-up was typographically an abomination (ghê tởm), but it always had the news,” the Times declared grudgingly of its rival.

Director Kevin Lewis gives the action some Sam Raimi energy, finishing off a bunch of unmemorable teenagers with gory flair (tinh ý).
