"Pad the bill" nghĩa là gì?

"Pad the bill" có pad là nhồi nhét thêm -> cụm từ này nghĩa là đội giá hóa đơn bằng cách cho thêm những thứ không cần thiết, lặt vặt vào.

Ví dụ
Now is not the time to pad the bill with $500 million to study transgender lemurs (vượn cáo) in Madagascar. Focus solely on helping the American people – period.

If you’ve ever bought land or a home, you likely encountered the term “title insurance” (bảo hiểm trên giấy)—one of many potential mystery fees frequently paid at real-estate closing. But this fee has little in common with service charges and other vague-but-sort of-legitimate-sounding expenses seemingly designed to pad the bill. Instead, the title-insurance bill is an investment in peace of mind.

I know from experience the ambulance staff on the island was engaging in insurance/medical fraud (lừa đảo) 18 years ago. It’s sad even with already sky high medical bills, they’ll do absolutely unnecessary things to pad the bill even more, and make it so you can’t trust the people you need to trust when you’re most vulnerable. Vultures. I hope the FBI cleans the place up so they become worthy of our trust.

$3 trillion with lots of off subject riders tagged on or $1 trillion focused on the intent (mục đích) of the bill. Guess what? Get a few jobs because taxes are going up in the next few years. The dems are trying to pad the bill for $$$$ to pet projects. Pelosi has been blocking to help BIDEN, not us.
