"Tom and Jerry" = Tom và Jerry -> nghĩa là đồ uống có cồn (rượu rum), thường được uống nóng; đặt tên theo các nhân vật trong tiểu thuyết thế kỷ 19 'Life in London' ('Cuộc sống ở London'), chứ không phải mèo Tom và chuột Jerry trong phim hoạt hình.

Ví dụ
A traditional Christmas drink, Tom and Jerry is definitely the most complicated drink on this list. The first thing you need to do is make the batter using eggs, cream of tartar, butter, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, and rum. This is mixed with more rum, brandy, and hot milk.

The Tom and Jerry. Purportedly Walt Disney's favorite drink, Tom and Jerry was such a popular party-punch that whole sets of bowls and glasses were produced and sold for the sole reason of drinking it. Sort of like Bundt pans, only drunker. Tom and Jerrys are made in batches, not one at a time, and the recipe requires a batter that has to be prepared ahead of time.

Hidden towards the back of the book is a cocktail called a Tom and Jerry, which the editor, one Herbert Asbury of Gangs of New York fame falsely credits as being named after Jerry Thomas. Having spent a lot of my youth in front of a barely-colour television watching Tom and Jerry along with anything else Hanna Barbara would throw at me, I first wondered if the cartoon cat and mouse were named after Jerry Thomas. The truth is more interesting than either of these.
