Local villagers (dân làng) in the Yothaka Subdistrict of Chachoengsao province on Wednesday, June 9th, built an enormous phallus (tượng dương vật) on the road as a part of a local rain-making ceremony (lễ cầu mưa).

The giant penis-shaped amulet, or “Palad Khik” in Thai, was molded and installed before local farmers began praying for more rain for their crops and for better water quality in the neighborhood as they were concerned that the supplied water on the canals was too salty.

the ceremony is done annually as a part of their superstitious belief (niềm tin mê tín). A similar ritual (nghi lễ) had also been performed last year and rainfall occurred in a pleasant amount throughout the rainy season.
