"Take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves" = lo cho xu và đồng tiền sẽ tự lo lấy -> nghĩa là chi tiêu có mục đích, chú ý tới những khoản tiêu nhỏ nhất thì không bao giờ hết tiền.

Ví dụ
The adage “Take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves” is turning out to be a bit harder these days for Maine towns.

Ketchum resident Nick Harman has initiated (khởi xướng) a campaign he calls “Moving Mountains” to raise $9 million for construction of affordable housing. “My grandma used to say, ‘Take care of the pence, and the pounds will take care of themselves,’” Harman said in an email to the Idaho Mountain Express. “‘Moving Mountains begins by carrying small stones’ is pretty apt too.”

The old maxim ‘take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves’ was one of its slogans, along with ‘persevere in (chú tâm) the habit of saving, and you will soon acquire not only money, but comfort, respectability and independence’.
