"There's an R in the month" = có chữ R trong tháng -> nghĩa là các tháng mùa đông từ tháng 9 đến tháng 4 hằng năm.

As I was growing up, any time my mother suggested buying mussels (trai) or cockles (sò) for dinner, my gran would pipe up with the old adage that “you should only be eating shellfish when there’s an ‘R’ in the month”.
“Go for a bag of chips, or, if there’s an ‘R’ in the month, sample some of Whitstable’s famous oysters.” But what do locals (dân bản địa) make of it? Do they agree with the decision from the international travel experts? Well KentLive went down to Whitstable in the midst of the March heatwave (nhiệt) to ask locals, visitors and tourists what they think about it.
It sounds like an old wives’ tale but oyster season is at its peak (đỉnh cao) when there’s an “R” in the month. So I soak up (tận hưởng) the October sun and watch a tractor lurch in from the shallow waters, towing enough of these ancient bivalves to build a two-storey house out of the shells.
There’s an R in the month so that means we can enjoy native (bản địa) Irish oysters (Ostrea Edulis) once again. They are only in season from September to April, unlike the curvy Gigas oysters often referred to simply as 'rock oysters' which are available all year round.
